Oahu remains the third largest of all of the Hawaiian Island and is the most populated. Did you know that the island was formed by two shield volcanoes? The island is made up of the Wai'anae and Ko'olau with a wide valley in the middle, which is known as the central O'ahu Plain. This island is also known as "The Gathering Place" due to the face that it consists of 80% of the state's population. The name O'ahu was named after the son of Hawai'iloa, the Polynesian explorer of the Hawaiian Island.
